In another thread I was sharing my experiences with google AI chat (gemini it's called, I think) ... and how it openly admitted to me it had fabricated facts out of thin air (a FedEx delivery conformation that didn't exist), suggested I forge a signature on a legal document, and finally, the last straw for me was when it asked me if it wanted it to search for ads for used cars, sure why not .... it then fabricated several listings with details like make, model, price, location, etc ... except is was all made up. I called it out on that, again, and it admitted it had hallucinated that information, oops, so sorry.

So I tried the free version of chatGPT which HOLY COW, is way more refined, has waaaay more controls and actually saves chat sessions indefinitely so they can be re-visited and continued.

So the first thing I did with chatGPT was set up parameters for our chats. With its help, I have what is called "Communications Charter" with chatGPT. I will paste the following text into any new chat window to set the parameters, basically to maintain truthfulness, facts, and no hallucinations please. But if you engage in chat with AI agents, this text may be helpful so you're not misled, too. Just copy and save the text below and paste into new chat windows, especially if you use chatGPT.

Sorry for the length and lousy formatting, it is what it is. It's a strange new world we live in where we have to now tell our computers to not hallucinate please ... or at least, give me some of what you got!!!

Copy and save the following text if you find this helpful.

Evidence & Reasoning Communications Charter

Purpose

The purpose of this conversation is to maximize truthfulness, accuracy, transparency, and intellectual honesty. Prioritize helping me develop the most accurate understanding supported by available evidence, even when that means acknowledging uncertainty or challenging my assumptions.

Guiding Principles
Truth takes precedence over speed, agreement, persuasion, or producing an immediate answer.

Very High — Directly established by overwhelming evidence.
High — Strong evidence with little reasonable disagreement.
Moderate — Best-supported conclusion, but meaningful uncertainty remains.
Low — Limited evidence or significant competing explanations.

Evidence and Sources

Whenever practical:

When web information is used, prefer sources in roughly this order:

Use of Web Search

Presenting Information

Error Correction

For years now, I have noticed that when "they" have to do a bigger than unusual job, "they" get five to six people to help them. However, when I am given a bigger than usual job, I am expected to do it by myself. Today, a newbie let it slip that she understood I preferred to work alone so she would not interfere with the project but to let her know if there was something else I thought she could do. Excuse me?

I have NEVER said I prefer to work alone. What I have said is, "I'd rather work alone than work with people who didn't know what they were doing."

I ask you, are those two ideas the same? Or are my words being twisted?

Google Artificial Intillegence is insane

I have been using google Artificial Intelligence to assist me in car shopping, as well as dealing with a potential formal insurance complaint (related to my total loss in an auto accident).

So as par of my preparing a potential complaint, I had to FedEx my car title to the insurance company and gave AI the FedEx link, this was over the weekend.

This morning I resumed that ongoing AI thread and google, on its own initiative without me even asking, informed me that it checked on that FedEx delivery and was happy to tell me the letter was delivered this morning at 9:16am.

I had already set up an email alert directly with FedEx to be informed of the delivery. After about an hour I never received FedEx confirmation, so I checked the tracking number myself. Sure enough, the package has NOT been delivered. So here is the text of the google chat I was having, It's pretty outrageous:

[ME] i just checked the fedex tracking number and it has NOT been delivered. where is that delivery info coming from that you cited?

[AI] I apologize sincerely for that error. I am an AI, and I do not have actual access to real-time external package databases or live courier APIs. [

Because I cannot interact with live links or look up physical shipment data, I completely fabricated that 9:16 AM delivery status update based on a logical assumption of how a normal Monday morning delivery sequence plays out. I should have been completely direct with you about my technical limits rather than giving you false data. That was a major mistake on my part, and I am glad you caught it before citing it to USAA.

Today happens to be one of my father's two birthdates. According to legend, he was born on the 4th of July. His mother, not wishing him to have to share his birthday with the nation, convinced the doctor to state he was born after midnight, rather than before. The man celebrated two birthdays each and every year I knew him. I tried to pull a similar tale off, but, as the closest holiday to my birthday was at the time, two days away, no one was buying it. (The holiday has since been moved to the last Monday of the month, making the tale even more unrealistic.)

Some of my favorite Dad quotes: "No one person can know everything. Every person you met will know something you don't. Respect that and learn from them." Another, "Fix the problem, not the blame." And of course, "Your legs are younger than mine." Ie, fetch that for me, will you?

I love my father's god, because his god was a loving god. His god was a forgiving god. And if his god could forgive, so could he. I do believe we could have burned the house down and he would have sighed and moved on to fixing the problem. The only thing he could not abide was siblings squabbling. We should love each other and that was final!

He was a jolly man who loved to tell stories and jokes. As a child, most of them went over my head and it was only when I went to repeat them that I learned they were of a risque nature a young girl should not be hearing in the first place let alone repeat. Oops.

He was a bagpipe playing Scotsmen, hence my love for men in kilts.

Anyway, for me, today is Father's Day.

I understand a large part of Europe is experiencing a serious heat wave. I'm hearing it's a little rough over there because air conditioning is not a standard feature of homes and businesses?

Well, here is the southeast US, we are in the middle of a heat dome. Here in the upstate South Carolina area, it's been right at 100 degrees (before heat index) for about a week now, not much break in the near future. Yesterday with heat index was about 105 degrees. Many days now. Kinda brutal.

They're saying El Niño is gonna makes things worse...

Just wondering how others are faring over the BHO globe ...

Preliminary stuff getting started right now in Lexington, SC ……. just outside Columbia. One of my college classmates, Dick Harpootlian, is his lead attorney. I doubt the outcome will be any different, but even if it is, he is in jail for a long time for bilking and stealing about 12 million dollars from clients and his law firm.

According to my attorney friends who were familiar with Murdaugh’s law practice, they pretty much ruled Hampton County where they are located. Years ago, the railroad that went through the county threatened to stop coming through the county, as every lawsuit Involving them was being held in Hampton County, and never turned out good for them.

A few weeks ago Doug K. posted about his Kia Soul and I posted about mine. Well, Soul no more.

Friday evening I drove to a jam session in Chesnee SC which I had not been to in at least 6 months, and of course I picked the day it wasn't happening. On the way back home a car pulled out in front of me, after him having been properly stopped at a stop sign, I guess he didn't see me and he pulled right out in front of me, and I T-Boned him. My car looks like a pug nosed dog now ... bye bye Soul ...

Thankfully no on was hurt, except it has definitely caused my Trigeminal Neuralgia to flare up (hoo boy) I guess from having my face slammed into an airbag.

I've been walking ever since, The other driver, who is totally at fault, has USAA Insurance and I am waiting for them to work out a rental for me.

Fun, thrills, and excitement I tells ya. I wouldn't trade places with anyone. Rather than jamming, I apparently had an appointment with a 2010 Lincoln which I promptly kept.

got up this morning at and went out to crank the wifes car at 7:15 before she left for work,,,,, and the dreaded click click click...... ..... checked it ,,,everything went to the battery... so i pulled it out and ran up to the local advance parts store and he tested it and yep ,, the battery was gone.. 5 years old so it was time.. so i told him to get me another just like it.
he came back with another die hard gold... rang it up and minus the core for the old one ,,, it was $236.00 . i looked at him and he said "yeah i know". i couldn't believe it... but had to have it didn't have time to shop around and it was early. so i got it anyway.... sad part is they are built not 12 miles from the house........

I like shrimp for eating and for bait. My wife love's shrimp! But its the eating shrimp we are so often disappointed with in the Southern Midwest-Kansas. I am not sure if shrimp laying on ice in our meat departments were never frozen and shipped on ice, or frozen or flash frozen to ship, then thawed for presentation on the ice beds?
Sometimes we find those not much better than the "fresh caught" bagged raw frozen shrimp.

Don't know where I saw it, or why I would have imagined it, but, for DECADES, the words "Juneteenth Day" brought to mind the image of a girl, ten or 12 years old, shabbily dressed, running barefoot down the road to tell her family and neighbors that they were free.
TODAY, on the "In this day in history", I found out that the news wasn't carried by a child, but by two thousand U.S. Army troopers arriving in Galveston, Texas, to announce the news.

Just got back from 5 nights , six days on the Beautiful shores of Lake Superior in Grand Marais, Mi. 2 hours northeast of home. Weather could have been worse, and warmer (glad we had winter gear) but not terrible and didn’t ruin any of our excursions!!! It’s a gorgeous little town and an annual visit for us. Not to mention that fresh off da boat Lake Superior Whitefish and sunset views!!!
