I'm fairly new to CNC inlay work, and while learning the process I ended up with three completed fretboard/overlay sets that have minor cosmetic imperfections. Rather than scrapping them, I'd rather see them end up on someone's banjo at a substantial discount.

These are seconds, not first-quality parts. The defects are cosmetic only and do not affect their function.

Specifications

- East Indian Rosewood fretboards
- Cut for 0.040" binding
- Slotted for a 26-3/8" scale length
- Matching headstock overlays included

Left & Middle Sets — $100 each

These have minor pearl chips and/or cracks that occurred during the final flattening process. The affected areas have been filled, but the repairs remain visible upon close inspection.

The middle set also has a shorter extension beyond the 22nd fret. It is essentially cut to finished length, leaving approximately 3/8" of material past the last fret.

Right Set — $75

This set has the same cosmetic pearl repairs as the left set. In addition, the CNC alignment holes were accidentally drilled too deep and broke through to the top surface of the fretboard. These have also been filled but remain visible.

I've included photos so you can judge the imperfections for yourself.

These sets are being sold as-is. No additional repair work, refinishing, or touch-up will be performed prior to sale.

Comparable first-quality fretboard/overlay sets typically sell for $200+, so I believe these prices are fair and firm.

Strummers and Pickers:

I have a 4 string Gold Tone banjo that has a 5 string tailpiece on it. "Odd" right? I got it that way. I'm not a "banjo-phile" but I don't think it's the "original" tailpiece for obvious reasons. Maybe it is. Assuming this tailpiece is incorrect, I'm looking to put the "correct" tailpiece on it but I'm not looking to blow a fortune to do it.

I got a "cheap" vintage 1960's Japanese banjo (bought used for $40 bucks, 40 years ago) that I regularly play (pictured as my profile pic).
So, does anyone have a Gold Tone 4 string "Terminator" tailpiece that they want to "part with" for a reasonable price?
