We had a great time learning and then arranging this music. The composition exemplifies the strong influence of the Italian Baroque composers so popular with Carolan’s patrons at the time. Loftus Jones of Ardnaglass, County Sligo, was married in 1740, two years subsequent to the passing of Carolan, which leads us to believe that Carolan composed this piece near the end of his career. Composed by Ireland's National Composer, Turlough O'Carolan (1670 - 1738), performed by the Angel Band, Album: Come Under My Protection © 1998-2010 The Angel Band, all rights reserved. David Behm, Guitar; Cathryn Norris, Violin; Emery Hutchins, Concertina & Bodhran; Bob Paul. Hammered Dulcimer; Mary Paul, Celtic Harp; Bob Frost. 5-String Banjo; Mark Rockwood, Mandolin.
