This song was written in 1864. It shows that people were growing tired of the continuing war and were ready for an end. This is played on my new long-neck banjo, capoed on the 1st fret to sing in F. No fancy playing, but I am not a fancy player.

Thanks, Greg. As a matter of fact, I found the song in the Rise Up SInging book published by SingOut magazine. WHen I was searching for audio recordings I settled on Pete Seeger's version as it was the only one that didn't sound like a dirge. The words are somber enough without drawing it out. I think I play it even a little faster than Pete.
Pretty much most of the material I am working on right now comes from the Pete Seeger discography. His choice of music has always been varied and interesting.
