A live cut of Devil's Highway from a recent concert (August 22, 2009) on the shores of Mille Lacs Lake in north centeral Minnesota. We start out with one of our players in the wrong key and while I'm not claiming it to be exemplary, you can hear how we handled the gaff. The banjo I'm playing is my Deering Hartford, which I have taken a liking to, and am amazed at what comes out of that grenadillo tone ring. This is an original tune I wrote.

You really have a great recording here Dave!
The clarity and fidelity is fantastic, especially for a live recording.
I even like the false start.

Great tune and recorded very well. Nice recovery too I'll have to keep that one in mind, use humor.

Thanks, Greg and Jim. Later on in the show on another song I kick off with guitar, I start out in the wrong key and we had a little fun with that also. Typically we manage to start in the right key, but for some reason that evening it happened twice. :) Sometimes you just have to have a little Rodney Dangerfield in oneself and have a little fun with it. :)
