my interpretation of what John Mayer thought he heard Tom Petty play. Not much banjo in this one but I am putting it up to further a discussion about recording and what can be done on laptops.

Hey man! Dropped by to check things out after your comment on that 8 string thing. This sounds great! Now you say this was all laptop? You using some kind of breakout box for mic inputs? Curious to know your rig on this 'cause I'm toying with setting up a dedicated laptop for recording.

It was recorded in Logic, on a mac using the built in A/D-D/A converters and a Sure KSM32 mike. I just posted another tune that was recorded using the built in laptop mike. Logic is Apples attempt to compete with pro tools. When I was looking into a recording program the thing that attracted me to Logic was that pretty much everything came with the program, instead of having to spend $$$ for all the plugins. Last time I checked they wanted around 500$ for the full meal deal. The downside is that it's a very large and complicated program, along the lines of autocad. The things you can do with it are truly amazing, but it took me a while to learn my way around.
