Traditional Celtic tune that was brought to the old time scene by Norman Blake on guitar. This version is from my "Drumming On the Edge of Banjo" cd. There is a simple tab to it in "Girl With the Banjo Tattoo Tab Book."

Certainly a unique version with the unmistakable, delightful melody bursting through. Tell us more about the drumming, please.

I first heard it from John Hartford, with words. I like your version a lot.

My wife just heard you and decided that's going to be her next hammered dulcimer tune.

Boy, I ask to hear something on your fretless yesterday and here it is this morning! Sounds like a good marching song. Love it and thank you.

Thanks for all your kind words. Yazid (Bill Johnson) is the master drummer on this tune and on all the tunes on Drumming On the Edge of Banjo. Those are all acoustic drums (no drum machine) He used to drum for Marvin Gay and I was very fotunate to work with him for over 2 years on this recording.
However, there is no fretless on this track--I think I played it on my John Hartford openback and Goldtone 5 string cello banjo. The guitar is my husband's Ken Miller. If you want to hear the Bowlin fretless in action--listen to John Bowlin's Groundhog Strut. :)
