The banjo/banjola can be pretty versatile. Not understanding this kept me from playing for years. If I like the tune, I'll at least try to play it.

Really good, Kevin. You really got the essence of the tune. One thing to note is that his first name is spelled Niel which is unusual.

Last year I played at Blair Atholl Castle which has Niel Gow's fiddle and the famous Henry Raeburn portrait of him on the wall. The Duke of Atholl was Gow's patron.

There are a number of towns in the US named Atholl or Athol. I know there's an Athol Massachusetts, not too far from where I used to live in Connnecticut. They are often the butt of many a jest (pun intended).
