Thanks Kevin. There don't seem to be many folk playing traditional mountain dulcimer in the old playing styles anymore - which is a real shame.

Have you heard of Don Pedi? He's an excellent dulcimer player and collector from here in NC.

Hi Kevin,
Yes - Don is one of the few players who still plays melody over drones - there are not many of us compaired to the numbers playing in contemporary styles! Don used his fingers up and down the melody string and I use a 'noter'. He is a great musician and there are many old time recordings of him working with other musicians on the Digital Library of Appalachia.

I attended one of his concerts near where I live a few years ago. I recorded most of it. Maybe I can extract some of the pieces that had banjo and post them here.

You are very lucky to have seen him play. I doubt that I'll ever get the chance to visit the USA, it is just so expensive to fly from the UK.
