Hi Shaun, good to hear from you.
Isn't this world funny. I was just mentioning to the rest of the band, via the inter-tube, that I had received and accepted from you, a Friend request, and suddenly I was notified of your latest -e- which I am now answering. There is no tyranny of distance, if we all think the right things at the right time, the world will turn out as we wish.
We have a mythical critter here in Canada probably not as ugly as a Bush Turkey, but still freaky if surprised, it is the North American Tree Beaver. Just kidding, We invented that one, probably as a result of too much beer and tequila.
One day maybe our bands will play a show were we learn the Bush Turkey song, and you guys might know our Beaver Fever tune. No tyranny of distance. Cheers.

Hey Dave..only mentioned the distance cos' i toured Canada back in '09 with the Re-mains and gigged 3 months from BC to Montreal and back again..man. those prairies are endless! Played in Winnipeg in some underground tavern downtown ..(can't remember the name..curse the booze!) with Mayor Matt Allen..know him?..Loved Winnipeg..pretty rough town in parts but great people. Don't play with the Re-mains anymore as my liver/head needed the break, but i think they're touring this (your) summer again..one day i'll love to do a solo trek across and re-kindle friendships and come and check you guys out..meanwhile i'm happy "hanging out" with my banjo and write tunes..i'll keep you posted....Shaun

Hi Shaun, any time your in town, you got a place to stay.
Regarding Mayor Matt Allen, I don't personally know him, but the name is familiar, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the others in the band know him, I'm kind of the reclusive one as far as getting around town and knowing everyone goes. I must say, this is a small world. I was figuring the distance thing, was all about how it would be hard to get to Townsville to do some picking.
Was the place you played called "the Cavern"?
I'm kind of on a bit of a thing here, were I would like to compose some tunes on the topic of running the bus on water, and all that stuff related to (the Man) keeping us down with this world domination thing they got going these last few hundred years. Got any Ideas?

Hey Dave..yeah, there's picking jobs, mostly an hour or 2 outside of Townsville. Heaps of backpackers work them to fund there aussie trips. Problem is you need transport and depends what season. Best bet is Mango season from Oct to Feb, (not real sure..check the 'net)..but it's summer and the tropics so be warned! . You're welcome to look me up/stay (if I'm still here..playing it all by ear at the moment). Townsville is a port town and the centre for all the mining operations all over North Queensland. Bit on the coservative "deep south/north" side of things. I've only moved here as my daughters moved up here and I wanted to be closer to them. I used to live here as a kid and have family around.
I know what you mean about touring expenses. We had an ol' Chevy V8 camper conversion van "Curtis" that guzzled whatever profits we made. Running something on alternative fuel would be ideal....ah well..least we got to see Canada in style ( with a touch of monoxide poisoning from the leaky muffler!)......cheers

Passport, check. Like Mangoes, Check. Monoxide poisoning, check.
You never Know.
