Janet,
As always, i enjoyed listening to you play. It almost sounds like you have a mandolin "choping" along with you by the way you are tapping the head. Maybe it is, but whatever it is really made the song come to life. Great feeling in your playing on this song!

Very happy sounding tune. Great phrasing.

It was pretty easy to learn, but I wanted to get the syncopation like the Earl Thomas, Jr. version and had to think about that a bit. When I'm not playing a note but am holding the previous note (where I'd normally be doing a downstroke) my thumb hits the head but doesn't make play the 5th string until the next eighth note. It's what Adam Hurt calls a "ghost stroke." This banjo has real low action and no scoop, so I'm bound to make lots of head contact and add percussion. Glad you liked it! I wasn't thinking about it at all.

I figured it wasn't something you were consciously doing, but it sure sounded good...it's just that natural touch that you always display!

Forgive the typo above. I also discovered that I can do a Galax lick in Granny Went to Meeting to begin the B part. It's something I'm working on. This tune with Backstep Cindy would make a good medley and I'd get a lot of Galax lick practice.

Thanks, Ike. The three exclamation marks mean a lot!
