I met Bill at Merlefest many years ago. He was the first banjo player, i felt, that gave me confidence i could play. A very nice guy. Bought my first banjo there....a Goose Acre. Wish i had kept it! Enjoyed Bill's show very much. I have an old Album from him....I believe it is called 'Root Hog or Die'!!!

That's his album alright. A friend of mine did an audio interview with him in 1988. I have a copy on which he plays quite a few tunes that I learned to play. He plays a kind of 2/3- finger style himself.
