Stefan Curl, banjo and fiddle From Edden Hammons The fiddle part was really hard to learn and play - but the banjo turned out to be surprisingly simple and not hard to play. Go figure..

Nice! Everything from Edden Hammons is a treasure. Go figure that.... I'd like to learn this, too, and should probably try to get the second volume of Mr. Hammon's fiddling. I bet this one would make a good Tune of the Week. Have you ever volunteered to do a TOTW?

Thanks - I'd like to do a TOTW some time, but I think this one is a little too weird for most people. It'd be hard to find a fiddler who knows it (it was challenging to learn on the fiddle!), and the banjo part is too simple for stand-alone playing - "too simple" is great in a banjo-fiddle jam, but solo doesn't demonstrate how the tune "really" goes. I'd probably pick one of my more straight-forward tunes, like John Brown's March or The Cuckoo (A version). I think Old Chattanooga was done recently.
