A friend asked me to lay a banjo track for his album...Used my Blackjack on this cut. Burlile tone-ring, 20 holes, 54 oz.

A classic song, very well played! Based upon the sound I hear I would like the head tightened a bit. Not intended as criticism. I'm not hearing it in person and I know that everyone's sound preference is different. Big K played my Williams Kenny Ingram model, S/N K-I-01-07 in my presence one time, and he suggested that I tighten the head about 1/4 turn. I did, and he was right (and I wasn't surprised).
Thanks Matthew for posting the song.

I had my Kenny Ingram @ Burlile's shop one time. (Mine is #9) He had me play it & asked me what kind of sound I liked. I said bassy. He said, "Let's tighten the head - it will bring out more bass." It seem counter-intuitive to me but he did & it did. I was stoked. He didn't tighten it much, about 1/4 turn. Nice pickin', Furry Paws...

Thanks guys...I have and the tone-ring does exactly that. The thing is, we've been getting so much rain lately, the ambient humidity in the studio was pretty high, and it lowered the head...resulting in kind of a muddy tone.
