Ok, here's my gutsiest, riskiest, lay-youself-out-there recording to date. NOBODY can sing Gum Tree Canoe like John Hartford. I'm doin' this because it's my sweetheart's favorite song I sing (quietly... to her). So be kind to me, please. (Thank you!)

When Gum Tree came up on the Jukebox, I thought for a moment old John had posted from the grave. Great job Craig. fishhead

This song is a favourite in Australia where gum trees (Eucalypts) are widespread. It has been collected from various oldtimers but mostly they replace Tombigbee River with Murrumbidgee. Might have got here with the travelling minstrel shows from 1850's through to almost 1900.
Very nice job - if you ever visit Tasmania I'll get you a gig.

This is only the second version I've heard. You did a wonderful job! I love this song, do you have tab for it or do I just have to get good enough to arrainge it myself?
