Thanks, Greg, the melody for me is the lyrics. I learned Old Spinning Wheel in the key of C and asked our band leader if we could play it as an instrumental. He played it in G and would modulate for me, but now he only plays it in G so of course I had to learn it in G, too. It’s the simplest modulation, as you know. I bet you would have some great ideas how to do that modulation.
