On the way to the studio a few years back, this song popped into my head; I hadn't thought of it for years. My friends Al and Emily Cantrell were with me as we were recording some stuff together. After I played and sang this song, I came out to listen to it and Emily Cantrell was sort of hooo-hooo-ing along, harmonizing. It sounded really cool and spooky and I asked her to go in and record it, which she did. We listened and she decided she wanted to redo it; her husband urged her to stay off the root of the chords. We listened and it was better. I had the brainstorm to put both her vocal tracks on. Way cool and spooky! As a side note: this track was purchased by HBO for use over the closing credits of an episode of Deadwood.

I heard this song over the closing credits on an episode of Deadwood, and it knocked off my feet.
I can't stop listening to it.
Great work

Really fine rendition! I've been playin' the banjo fer a long time and that's one of the (many) versions which stays with me. I must have heard this tune at least 3.5 million times and I think I can count on part of 1 hand the ones that made me stop and listen again. Thanks for the ear smile!
