Nay, but the proper name is Frosty Morning (no *Cold* in the title). See page 114 of The Fiddler's Fakebook for proof.
Okay, I have put the wet noodle away.
That was great! The All Volunteer String Band does this one in medley with Kitchen Girl for barn dances.

Very true, but the "Cold" is pretty commonly added. I don't remember where I learned the tune, but I've called it Cold Frosty since I picked it up in 1978 or '79.
But, the definitive recording of it (Alan Jabbour's field recording of Henry Reed, Aug 27, 1966) is indeed titled "Frosty Morning".
I should also note that when I play this solo, I don't do the standard melody either--I switch what most people do as the A & B parts, and my low part is compatible but different.

I never tire of this tune - it's good to hear so many people enjoying it. I also play it as a set with Kitchen Girl and and The Bear Dance - all in Sawmill.

I Like it. There is kind of a "ravel bolero effect" in the way the rest of the guys fall in. This tune is just great
