More About Me
I am a Pro Player with 28 years playing experience and I have been teaching banjo for over ten years.
I teach only five string, Bluegrass and melodic style banjo also known as the 3 fingered style.
(I can however get people started on Tenor Banjo, Mandolin and Guitar).
Lessons are one to one and taught from my home in the village of Horbury near Wakefield very close to junction 40 on the M1.
In lessons we will cover not only Bluegrass 5 string banjo playing but also Instrument choice, Banjo Maintenance & set up, Banjo History, Singing with the banjo, other banjo styles, Strumming and generally having fun with the banjo.
I teach 5 string from a book and CD called “You can teach yourself Banjo” by Janet Davis.
As well as teaching from the above book I have numerous tunes in tablature form which are available free of charge to pupils.
Another valuable learning aid is backing tracks which I record myself and are available upon request.
I teach lessons on a weekly or fortnightly basis, depends on how much time you decide to devote to practice. I teach mainly 40 minute lessons as the full hour can be a bit much for some people to take in.
