That "wow" is an expression of anticipation of revelations. I'm quite aware of abuse of power - in '88 I was arrested for being Paul Bernardo (even though I bore no resemblance) and when I complained I was told "probable cause". I worked with cops here and in T.O. (cycling matters) but have no delusions about the damage they can do (Cherry Beach Express).

Speakin' of intimidation.... and I realize this is contrary to "The Code" .... our "intermediate" level mens team once had a coach put the fear of some deity or other into us with: "I'm not going to mention any names, but you, Charlie Hurst, are skating around with your head up your butt.*"
* = because this is a kid-friendly site I've applied a bit of poetic licence (?).
But to balance things out, one time after a loss, at the mandatory (?) post-game session at the bar, a fan [actually Charlie Hurst's brother] had the waiter set up a round of milk for the team.

Nothing to do with Cherry, but I figure, since it's "hockey" in general, I might as well put it here. This p.m. I just became aware that the World Junior "A" Challenge was being played in Dawson Creek, BC. Caught parts of the Bronze medal game [USA - 2, Czech -1 in OT] and found it entertaining enuff to catch the Gold medal game.... currently tied at 1 between Canada East and The Ruskies going into the 2nd. overtime. One of the more entertaining games I've seen in some time.... beats yesterday's OHL [Kingston vs Hamilton] game and todays Jet's vs. Flyers by a country mile.... I guess $$$ talks; this is 'way more entertaining, and I for one would like to see more of this level televised [along with Univ. hockey].... as always, IMNSHumbleOpinion. ....gotta go.... puck drop imminent....

Nah, Chuck, I don't think that's too likely. I've respectfully asked about putting out an accurate program, and turning down the volume a bit for the %$#^&%$ music they play at EVERY stoppage in play. My ideas weren't well-received.
But, they're currently 9 - 0 [with 1 shoot out loss], so I expect they're of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mindset.
Nuthin' to do with you-know-who, but I figure mentioning it here is at least as good as starting a new thread.... Canada vs. the Ruskies for the gold medal at the world juniors .... noon [Daylight Saving Time in this part of the world]. I dunno what to prognosticate after the 6-0 debacle (?).... 'though I do expect it will be a l-o-t- closer, and it wouldn't be a shocker to see the Canuckians pull it off. ...stay tuned!!
P.S. Chuck, as for the amateur stuff.... Swan Valley over Russell 5-2 last nite.... but thankfully, no rioting on Shell River Avenue. Does coverage of the hockey that matters extend that far south??

Not much, Owen. There’s the Kings channel on the California side, and the Coyotes channel on the Arizona side of the Colorado River, depending on the cable options. And there’s the NBC games with Mike Emrik and ex-Winterpeg Jet Fast Eddie Olczyk

For anybody with something more important to do ['though, right off, I can't imagine what that would be] Canada 4 - Russia 3. So I suppose that can be viewed as compelling evidence that the universe is indeed unfolding as it should. Kudos all-round... a very fast-paced entertaining game, although there were a few calls that one doesn't see everyday. I was particularly impressed with Joel Hofer's play, not the least of which is his ability to prevent rebounds. Ha! Ha! that's great Owen! I used to live & work on the east side of Calgary. The last liquor store in town was within walking distance. I'd see the Hutterites in there buying big cans of Colt 45 after work.
I'd get a smile from the guys because beards & they'd down their beers on their way back to the colony in Airdrie!
A buddy that lived there said the ditches were littered with cans because they couldn't drink at home.

...dunno, Chuck... from the snippets of NCAA stuff [hockey, basketball,football] that I do see, I don't see many empty seats. In fact I semi-regularly point out the b-i-g crowds to my totally disinterested wife. I don't know how the crowds [and hype] are for the lesser (?) schools/conferences.
Wouldn't the next logical step to a full house be to up the ticket price? I recall you mentioning having played U. hockey.... was the problem evident back then?
