Hey All! I have a set of McPeake tuners that are slightly rough when tuning and am wondering if there’s a way to add some oil to them? They’re very similar to Waverly tuners and have added a pic here. Was thinking I can drill a few drops of 3 in 1 oil down the shafts not not sure if that will actually lead to the gears. Anyone know if that works? Thanks!

There is a tuner service company that refurbishes tuners and I would guess these could be serviced as well. Perhaps someone will chime in with the name and contact info. Also, you might 'google,' it and see what pops up. I would be hesitant to do anything until I was sure it would help.

Hangout member Dean Meece (rbfour5) services tuners. Hangout software is not letting me post a link to his profile, but you can find him.

He's on Facebook as Banjo Tuner Restoration and Service.

Do the McPeake tuners have the threaded bushings that screw down inside the tuner housing from the top? If they do, you could remove the bushings and drop a few drops of oil down the inside of the housing. If they have a solid housing that has a flat hex nut and flat washer, that won't work.
