I am working on a project - to attach a 1926 Mastertone tenor neck to a post war Gibson pot. The lag bolts are the classic 8-32 size and - as I discovered long ago, the lower lag bolt is L shaped inside the heel and thus cannot be removed without massive and invasive surgery.
The best solution is to find the correct set of rods and longnut. Alternatively the solution might be to find a conversion longnut that can be mated to a more modern lower rod. It is way above my pay grade to make one!
My other banjo is a 1924 pot 5 string conversion. and I saved some parts, but the longnut was used elsewhere and the lower rod is broken in the middle. Thanks in advance. Ian
PS I have placed an ad under classifieds with some pictures of the neck. banjohangout.org/classified/114911

Thank you to those who wrote to me - I am happy to report that I have a couple of sets coming my way. The assembly will still take a while as I decided to strip the post war pot and now it is stripped and stained I will begin the slow process of finishing it with Tru Oil. I love the Tru Oil finish - it just takes a long time with regular thin coats as well as using OOOO steel wool in between coats until I have sufficient build up.
One of the gifts on the HO and the banjo community generally is that it is peopled by great and helpful, kind people. Bless you all
