Recently purchased a Weymann no. 6, and I’m under the impression that these are supposed to be geared tuners, however when strung and tuned properly, the washers/bushings on the front side of the peg head spin, slip, and loose tension. However, I wound the strings reverse and they hold? Obviously this is not ideal and they are holding right now, but if anyone knows how this might be fixed it’d be appreciated!
I have attempted to tighten the tuners but it got to the point where it was too tight and still slipping and I hesitated to go further at risk of breaking.

Perhaps you could try swapping the tuners left and right.
The previous owner may have taken them off for some reason and reinstalled them on the incorrect (?) side of the peghead.
Just a guess on my part.

It sounds like the top nut is loose. You need to tighten that and it should hold. Weymann made a tool for the top nut, but are rare to find so you might have to get creative. I have 2 gold Weymann tuners in stock if you need a replacement.

Does it tighten with the two small holes in the gold plate around the post? Guessing I might need to push up from the bottom and then tighten?
What I know about Weymann banjos/tuners I learned ^^.
Would snap ring pliers work as the "wrench"?

Are you sure they are geared tuners? They look more like friction ones to my eye.

This is straight from an early Weymann catalog, I haven't taken mine apart to absolutely confirm that's the case, and very hesitant to do so considering, so someone else might be able to chime in and absolutely confirm that they are geared. But very low profile and unassuming and a surprising innovation.
