Recently acquired this banjo and don’t know whither to smile or frown. Is it worth restoring? Suggestions and comments appreciated.

Looks worth restoring! Higher quality banjo at the time with a “double spun” rim. Would probably be a pretty good player. I don’t have a double spun rim in my collection. Some better pics would help with identification!

I have a similar banjo. Inlays on the fingerboard and headstock are similar. Yours seems to be missing the metal inlay on the headstock right above the nut, but I cant quite tell if the outline on yours matches the metal plate on my banjo. My banjo has a metal plate on the heel dated 1890. My banjo's headstock shape is different. No brand or any other maker's mark, so I am hoping like you that someone else knows something.
