Hi everybody! Due to my age, 82, I can no longer use most of my banjos, which weigh about 5 kg + the weight of the case. This little Gibson, who has never left my house, weighs only one kilo and doesn't break my back. It's pure fun to play, with its narrow keys. It also reminds me, very fondly, of Eddie and his instrument... an Ome..perhaps, which gets a resonator of this type.

Marco, I enjoyed this very much, you are swinging like crazy here!

As we age, life becomes a series of workarounds but as long as we are still playing music, everything is okay!

Thank you for your comment. What's about "Emaline"? I don't know.

Marco, when I posted my comment above, I thought the music for '' Pennies From Heaven'' was in my attachments, I could'nt find it, and accidently clicked ''Emaline,'' that appeared on my reply.

I've finaly tracked down a copy of ''Pennies From Heaven,'' and it's a good chart, the same one I used on a past lesson.
So the music, and my clip, are finaly posted ...... I hope!

Hi Don, I understood what the problem was. I apologize, but I don't master the English language very well. It's really nice to hear your technique on the plectrum banjo , which creates a unique sound, never been heard by other banjoists. I think that your originality depends both on the way you hold the plectrum between your fingers, both on the angle and distance from the bridge with which the strings are struck, and on the position of the palm, which seems to rest on the bridge creating the effect of a mute. I tried to copy everything with a tenor, but I didn't get this result: tenor and plectrum, despite being very similar (sometimes I can't distinguish them immediately, looking at a photo) have a quite different timbre, due not so much to the different length of the neck, but rather to the different tuning, much less "violent" and more melodious in the plectrum version. When the plectrum banjo was an almost unknown instrument in Italy, a friend of mine, not having found one to buy, bought a tenor and tuned it like a plectrum, with excellent results: this makes me think that the most important element that differentiates the two instruments is the tuning, which creates different inversions of the chords with rather different musical effects.
