This neck was connected to a pot I got a few years ago. Can’t remember what it was but it wasn’t Vega. It’s really a nice looking neck and I was thinking of using it to make a short scale 5 string on a 19 inch Vega mando banjo pot that I have.
The dowel is Fairbanks Vega, obviously unrelated to the neck but does it have value of its own? I could try to remove it if someone needs something like that.
I’ll attach pics with measurements etc.
Rod, unless someone removed the heel cap and ran a woodscrew to assist the glue holding dowel and replaced heel cap, that should come out very easy with steam. Possibly even boiling hot water squirted into joint around dowel with syringe and twisting motion. There’s slim chance to keep dowel in someone may have removed heel cap, ran screw in, and replaced. But, if you can’t get that with some heat and water and twisting, could be.
Thank you,I will try that.
if it won't come out I'll probably just use it as is although the angle probably won't be correct.
