I am sorry, but you got exactly what you deserved. Your coach should be fired on the tarmac of the airport. Did they really think their bunker defense was going to work for remainder of the game after their goal, especially against a team like Argentina? I was yelling at the TV ……. Lucky it wasn’t worse.

Agreed. You win a match by scoring goals. The bunker defence strategy worked against Mexico. But Agentina ? ¡ Viva Espana ! for Sunday  (My wife is half Spanish - so I've go a backup team)

I watch snippets off-and-on [more off yesterday as we had company].  The bits of the post-game analysis (?) I saw were only people from the English side.   Did they also interview people from the winning team?

It was sad... but as you say, well deserved. I'm no football (soccer, whatever...) expert, but early into the second half, you could see that despite our goalie and defense being exceptional, it was only a matter of time before Argentina scored.

I don't think that icing is a viable strategy when it's 90F in the stadium.

Last night's match was better. What you get when neither side has anything to lose but both have Golden Boot candidates.

Can't score if you don't (or can't) shoot!  Spain is just that much better than everyone else in the world.  Well deserved victory!

Indeed. Plus a World Class demonstration of post-game poor sportsmanship by several of the Argentinian players.

Must say that if all soccer games were as interesting as the last 30 minutes or so of this match, I'd be likely to watch this sport more often.
