Overall Comments

My first camp. Superior experience. Very well organized and we were all well fed. Enough instructors so if one wasn't "right" for you, there were other choices. The instructors are all superstars and the most personable, likeable and approachable people you could want to meet. I learned more than just how to play better, I learned about music and the joy of playing. Very accepting of beginners, like me. I'm going again next year. Highly recommended.

Sound

3 finger bluegrass. Sounded good to me but after about a year with it I was ready for something nicer. My banjo teacher did a proper set up on it and wow! It's a keeper. It now has some pop to it when I hit the strings right and good tone up the neck.

Setup

Not set up. I thought I set it up but had it done properly and it made all the difference. Put on a thinner bridge. Big difference.

Appearance

Looked very nice, fret markers and headstock. MOP? could be plastic, I don't know. Great finish for that price and it has stayed that way for over a year now. Not too real impressed with the sunburst finish on the res., but for the price, I can't fault Hohner.

Hardware seems good quality and have had it over a year with no signs of undue wear.

Tuner handles could be a little tighter. Replaced bridge with a thinner one and that really helped the sound.

Great, great banjo for the price. A perfect first banjo that should be sufficient for a good couple of years before needing to upgrade. Attractive and solid sounding.
