Option 2. Others use their skills to show off a tune.
After a while, option 1 begins to sound somewhat banal and pedestrian .
What do you think?

I think it's a matter of taste and personal preference, and to phrase it that way stinks of gatekeeping and snottiness.
But to each their own, I suppose.
