I asked Bart, and now for those who play an A-flat scale Bart Reiter, what gauge and type of strings do you like best on this banjo and why?

	jbalch says: 3/28/2011 10:14:33 AM Mine is a shorter "True" A-scale banjo. The length is 23 1/4" +/-. I use GHS PF-150 strings (10,12,14,22b,10). I've tried heavier gauges on the short scale banjo. But I like the lower tension that these strings provide. I think they sound and play great. FYI: I use the same on my full scale banjo. The action on that banjo may be set very slightly lower than my A-scale (to compensate for the difference in string tension).
	boondocker53 says: 6/7/2011 6:37:43 PM When I bought my A scale from Bart on ebay, he recommended D'Addario light tension if I was going to tune it in A. I broke the 1st and 5th strings, and replaced them with lights, but have left the mediums on 2, 3 and 4. I bought a set of lights, and several extra light 1st strings, but have not change any of the others out yet. I like it just the way it is, but I'm sure I will like the lighter tension when I change out the others, less pressure on the fingers don't cha know.
