It just seems fitting to grow a beard when pickin' a banjo.

Tailpiece breakage

From will1976 on 7/15/2014 5:21:02 AM

Hi All,

Long story short. Last night, while it was in her case, the No-Knot on my Gold Tone LN snapped.

I only use E tuning, and also down-tune if not playing her for a while.

Any ideas? I have never had this happen before, and all my banjo's & guitars, are all cased, and all in the same corner of our lounge, so hence all the same temperature.

Suggestions appreciated.

Will

Will, where did the no-knot break? Was there any sign of corrosion or other weakening agents?

is this banjo still on warranty with Gold Tone?

These tailpieces are so small, I don't expect there is any hope of repairing it. But new ones are pretty easy to find and order.
