Does Mr. Hoffmeyer offer this service?

How should we clean the picks? I just picked up a pair of pre USA Nationals and would like to clean them up a bit when they arrive. What should i use to clean them up? Or is it by convention that we just leave the vintage Nationals as is and just pick with em as they are?

Try nickel polish if you can find it. If it's really corroded you might used extremely fine steel wool. After that, I use cardboard and denim in that order. Then I use the oil on my nose for final finish. You want to make them slick for the best sound possible. You can make them as good as new if you take your time. I've been playing and collecting nationals many years.

Well Ive been fortunate enough to gather a few sets now. Im all geeked up about these old Nationals. They just feel good to pick with and make me happy. I don't have to explain myself in this room, but I will never go back. Ive used some Flitz and it works very well. I used mostly paper towel, a little card board, and one tough pick required a cut t shirt to bring back the finish. No fine wool or grinding required, besides I don't like the thinned down lettering after using a wheel and taking off some metal. I like the deep dark National Pat Pend, like the ones on the front page of Deans site.

I've never used patent pending though I've bought and sold several sets. Dean makes a fine pick (saving my nationals) though we're not supposed to mention that here :)
