They're pretty rare. If available info (eg: Michael Shames' site) is any indication, it seems the Super Paras had their own 3 digit serials, which seem to cover the 3 models Lange made with the double-tiered "wedding cake" flanges/resononant chambers..the Ensemble King, Super Paramount Artists Professional and Super Paramount Artists Supreme. Someone else might know better, but the available info seems to suggest that Lange made ~ just north of 300 of the 3 models. As someone else mentioned, making such elaborate instruments during the depression probably kept their numbers low. Anyone's guess as to how many of them still survive. Imho, they sound really good with skin heads. Properly set up, nice playing & sounding banjos like many Paras are. They occasionally come up for sale, but are really few and far between. Renee K. has a Supreme on her site now, $6,500 US (includes an H. Lea plec repro neck), which is consistent with other Supremes I've seen recently sell. The asking price seems reasonable to me. They have narrow profiled necks perhaps even in regards to other Paras, and lift can be a possible concern. The marquetry work on the Professional is especially gorgeous to the eye, reminiscent of Lange's Paramount Artcraft 'jos. They're also huge as banjos go!
Michael Pingitore seemed dwarfed by his in the "The King of Jazz", granted he was a shorter guy.
Regards,
Mike
