I need to reach out for some help. I've been doing this on my own for about a year. I think I've come to a point where I need to ask for some advice.
I've been using vintage banjo guitars. I've been setting up, with open G tuning. I've had to use 8ga strings to get high G's on strings 1 and 6. The other strings have been just light gauge banjo strings.
Does this seem about right? I'm not married to G. Maybe F or E would work better. Right now, I have a Weymann style 2 that is set up with light gauge guitar strings, tuned to an open E. This is working out pretty good.
Mind if ask how y'all are setting up your banjos?
Thank You
