Another ྂs Wildwood

From tucsonsean on 6/13/2015 10:23:14 PM

Hope the blog is still active...I posted a little over a year ago about my '70s era Wildwood.  (Sent pics to Mark, and he confirmed the approx. age--MOP torch in peghead below logo, rolled brass tone ring, non-adjustable carbon fiber truss rod, slotted diamond position markers, thin white side binding.)  I had traded Cedar Mtn. banjo to Travis Stuart for it about 15 years ago--but that's another story.  Anyway, I was browsing in the Folk Shop here in Tucson, and found its near-twin hanging in the back of the shop--only difference was a flowerpot inlay in the peghead, and the finish was natural.  Paul onlly wants $850 for it, and would probably entertain offers, if anyone's interested.  BTW, love my Wildwood--they may be one of the most underrated openbacks on the market.

Glad to hear you are digging your Wildwood. It's nice to hear about and see some of the early Wildwoods and that they are still bringing lots of enjoyment.
Here's a video of the one you mentioned that the Folk Shop has for sale - being played by Tim Weed: youtube.com/watch?v=tEiiIx1BkPA
And a link to it on their web site: thefolkshop.com/#!product/prd1...ack-banjo

I've played that banjo. Has an aftermarket 5th string tuner, and I think the setup needs to be tweaked, but it's a solid instrument, a genuine Wildwood from the early California days. Paul's banjo enthusiast and a great resource. Besides any instrument you can imagine (and some you couldn't), Paul and Brenda have hundreds of banjos, from early Bay State's to contemporary Deering's, all at competitive prices. If they don't have what you want, they can usually get it
