Hello again, have any of you put a skin head on your Troubadour? Nylon strings? I found another one recently in Portland and am thinking of trying out something different. Btw, I have Hartford Low D strings on my other Wildwood and love it. Thanks for your comments.

	czachk says: 5/22/2026 10:42:43 AM I have a Minstrel and have put a JD Balch special select 4 star goat hide head on it. It came with a B&D 5 string that I also have, but I needed a brighter tone out of it so I swapped the heads on them. The skin head definitely gives my Minstrel that nice warm tubby sound for clawhammer. Haven't tried nylons on it with the skin head, it would probably would be worth trying again.

You would need to re cut your nut or make another one to accommodate the wider strings. I did try to use the Aquila reds but they were still too thick.
