Although self taught from the early years, since then I have taken private and group lessons with American Banjo Masters such as Tony Trischka, Peter Wernick and Bill Keith. Students of mine gain the advantage of my knowledge learned from these historic figures as well as a patient enthusiasm for 3 finger style playing. I’ve taught private and group lessons for many years here in Pennsylvania as well as Ohio, Virginia and California. Most recently at Chester County Night School, and the Malvern School of Music as the resident banjoist and currently providing instruction for individuals periodically in the area. Recently, one of my students (I'm very proud of him) took 1st Place in Delaware State Championship in the youth category. He has not been playing a year yet. Why - dedication and drive to learn. You don't have to be a music genius to learn and master - you do have show dedication and put quality time into practice. That's all. I show you the rest. You can see more about me at http:ricklondon.com/banjo.html Enhanced with Youtube, DIY banjo learning works real, although my students (especially beginners) find that one-on-one lessons help establish excellent direction and an avoidance of bad habits. I agree! Hope to help you as well.
