Grew up living next door to Gary Sosebee and I used to spend hours hanging out in his basement watching him make banjo's and all sorts of amazing wood projects. Now he makes and sells banjo bridges and accessories that he makes in his wood shop. It makes me proud to know his story and to have first hand knowledge about how it developed. He taught me so much, now I am making my own mastertone style banjo. I thought this site would be a great resource for my journey. I have been playing an old long neck banjo since 1996. I got it as a college graduation present, and it was in a million pieces in a box. Using the knowledge I learned in Mr. Sosebee's workshop, I successfully rebuilt the banjo in the box and even had to make some custom pieces for it to work. I am teaching myself how to play on this old banjo, until I can finish building my mastertone banjo. Now it's just me, my old coon dog Penny, my old chevy truck, and "me and my old banjo!"
