Music degree - Texas Tech, choral. First folk group formed 1968-1974, studio musician (pianist, orchestrator, jingle writer.) Was pianist in rhythm section at Caldwell Studios in Lubbock, TX with Lloyd Maines, Kenny Maines & drummer Steve Meador (Carole King, Leonard Cohen). Started playing Scruggs style in 1971 (saw a guy in the dorm playing it and had to learn). Formed duo, Gammill & Murphy with Russ Murphy 1976-1989 (full time touring throughout SW US and overseas occasionally). Played keys, e. guitar and banjo in country band at Six Flags Over Texas summers 05 & 06. I have been worship leader in several churches thru the years and still do some. Started writing some mellow banjo songs last couple of years and now am learning clawhammer style.
