Originally from Massachusetts, now living in Germany. Been playing guitar all my life, having moved up to classical guitar in the 1990's. Just before Christmas 2006, my wife's cousin gave me a Lotus aluminum pot banjo he picked up at a second hand shop for five dollars. I'd never even seen a real-life 5-string banjo before but still recall very vividly how as a kid in the 1960's I used to love watching Flatt and Scruggs anytime they appeared on TV. So, I figured I'd give it a try. I checked out the Internet to see how to tune the thing, cleaned it up, bought some new strings and fingerpicks/thumbpicks, got myself a book and took to it right away. In early 2012 I finally purchased a Recording King R80. Playing classical guitar is very rewarding, but pickin' the banjo is just so much more damn fun!
