I've been playing instruments for 35 years. Starting with the guitar, which I only really strummed around on. At age 26 I started plying the tenor saxophone, and after a long gap I was bitten by the bug to play live. I played in a number of bands, mainly pop and soul music, and ended up playing at a semi-pro level and all over the country. This got to be too much. In 2000 I gave that up and decided to learn bass, and moved on to fretless bass (don't ask me why, it just seems to feel right). Now I'm playing rock music in a semi-pro band... but this time keeping it down to just 2 gigs a month and strictly local! I've been getting increasingly interested in country music over the last couple of years (well... it has a tune, doesn't it!)... and I just love vocal harmonies! I thought that taking up the banjo would help my bass playing and give me a "musical hobby" back, rather than just learning and plying songs for gigs (if you see what I mean). I just love playing the banjo, and I've been learning to play Bluegrass at a slow and steady pace. Even contacted a guitar playing friend and hoping to do a bit of jamming!
