I am a self taught banjo player. I began playing at the age of 11. I started on a long neck five string and one year later switched to tenor. At age 15 I began teaching banjo lessons. At the end of my junior year in high school at the age of 17, I became a full time professional, taking a job six nights a week at a local Shakey's Pizza Parlor. I graduated from college with Bachelor of Music degree in Theory and Composition. I play woodwinds, frets and compose and arrange most styles of music. I am President of ScottSound Music in far north Dallas, Texas. I teach 40 students a week, direct a middle school band program, and play over 200 gigs a year. I have recorded seven albums and have credits on many others. I have also authored two beginning methods, one for tenor and the other for plectrum banjo.
