Heyhoo. I've been playing Scottish (and other Celtic) music for most of my adult life. Gradually more and more old-time American tunes joined my repertoire so I decided to get a banjo. Much to my surprise I can play it pretty well so we have dedicated a whole band to this great music and The Hollow Mountain String Band was born (although we haven't found a double bass player yet so I play that in the band, not banjo).
