Native NC hillbilly. I have played guitar for going on fifty years. Have owned a banjo for quite a while but only recently started trying to really learn it seriously. Was impressed by Tommy Thompson back in the sixties and became enamored of the clawhammer style. Have taken classes with David Holt, Adam Hurt, Sheila Adams, Scott Ainslie, and Alan Julich. Musically, I'm primarily known as a songwriter, fortunate enough to be recognized in several competitions and have several of my songs picked up by other performers.
