Played some in 1985-1990 then quit. Just took it back up 2006 Trying to catch up. I just started taking lessons- July 2008. My goal is to finally learn how to play this instrument so that I can quit it for good :) Once in a while I go to the Bucks County PA jam. The guy's and gal's there are most understanding bunch I have ever met, it is a great place get your feet wet jamming. I have also started playing in my churches praise band. It is true that some praise tunes do not lend themselves very well to the banjo but this activity gets me in front of people and forces me to play in different keys. As a final comment, I do not think that playing the banjo is something that comes easy to me. I have to work very hard for small gains in ability. But I like a challange and hope to gain some kind of decient playing skills in the 2008-2009 time frame. Tom
