In the beginning of 2012 I heard about a broken, beginner's open back banjo with no strings. It was missing several lugs and was completely unplayable. I told my friend I was interested in buying this instrument in jest but after talking it over he agreed. He delivered the banjo to me with some strings on it, a banjo case, and several beginners books for 80 bucks. After buying lugs, teaching myself to play, and watching countless youtube videos I became obsessed with this instrument. I became interested in Bluegrass. I later received a Mitchell MBJ200 (my current Banjo of choice) and started playing even more seriously. I bought a copy of TablEdit, a set of D-Tuners, a variety of new picks, tools to work on my Banjo, and the habit grew. I purchased and restored a 1930's-1940's Mele B & J New York Banjolele from an Estate. I bought a custom-made Richard Keith fretless Banjo. I ended up selling that old open-back after I was given the Mitchell MBJ200 but its influence can still be felt on the sites I frequent, the songs I play, the music I listen to, and the perpetual emptiness in my wallet. My other interests include glider flying, playing soccer, and gaming.
