Not sure what to put in here, but I'll forge ahead. I keep looking in sites like this for inspiration to keep plugging away at my banjo. I don't keep at things long enough to really get polished and impressive with undertakings. I got where I'm competent at guitar, but never great. Guitar, at least, I understood pretty well. I knew most of the chords and scales, at least enough to get by. My problem I always thought that I am left handed, and forced myself to play a guitar right handed. That is where banjo came in. I thought if I started playing banjo I would be forced to work on my right hand technique.
I now have a decent banjo, made it myself. It plays fine, but I'm making no headway on my right hand technique. Perhaps this blog will serve that purpose. As I make any perceptable progress, I'll try to throw it in here. This may be the start of something great, it may be my last entry.

Playing Since: 2006
Experience Level: Just Startin'
Interests:
[Jamming] [Socializing]
Occupation: Engineer
Gender: Male
Age: 70
My Instruments:
My own home built (Stew-Mac parts). Pics are in the photos. It's a combined design; Mastertone banjo neck and a Whyte Laydie pot. I wanted an open back since the resonator should make the banjo louder, and nobody wants to hear me play louder yet.
Favorite Bands/Musicians:
I still listen to 70's and 80's rock in my free time. I'm also very in to Hendrix and some of the classic blues players.

Married, no kids. Played guitar for about 25 years, never got all that good, but can play competently with others. I'm a lefty, and play guitar right handed. I always felt that held me back. I thought banjo would develop my right hand technique since picking is so important. I'm pursuing clawhammer since I've never liked using fingerpicks. I have a long way to go. I appreciate the help I've gotten in this forum.
