This mp3 is one of many audio files from my site: www.thegoldrushbanjo.com The site contains the stories of gold rush songs and my efforts to play them in an historical style on the minstrel banjo. This song was composed by Charley Rhodes--minstrel banjo player with Johnson's Pennsylvanians--and performed in Virginia City, Nevada during 1868. The tune dates from 1859--the lyric about a stage coach robbery was, like virtually all gold rush songs, a parody.
