I love this tune! One of my favorite renditions is JD Crowe's; his timing is just quintessential....no one plays it better! It will take me 25 more years to play as good as he does now; he's a year younger than I...I believe he's my all time favorite banjo player! I once attended a conference at his Holiday Inn in Lexington; I felt like I was on "hollowed" ground;-) Robert

I'm trying to learn this tune from Courtney Johnson's playing it when he was with New Grass Revival. To me, he was one of the best banjo players out there when he was with NGR....I used to listen to New Grass Revival when they would perform at the Canal Street Tavern in Dayton, Ohio back in the '80;s; when Bela was playing with them along with Pat Flynn, Sam Bush and John Cowan; a terrific combination!! It will take alot more time to get this song right;-)...Robert

I learned this song from listening to the Osborne Brother's Bluegrass Concerto Album; to me, one of the best albums ever produced. Sonny's playing of this tune with the Orchestra was just superb; not to mention his rendition of Jesse James; this album should have received more acclaim than it did...I sure loved it!!! Robert

This is a fun chromatic type of song to play. I find it a good "warm-up" tune. Robert

My wife Elaine and I wrote this tune in 1972 and performed and recorded it at The Appalachian Studios near our home town. It was our first attempt at writing and recording. I played guitar accompaniment, John Call was on Steel Guitar. Elaine sang harmony.

I've known and sung this song since I was five years old. However, tonight is the first time I've attempted playing it on the banjo. Robert

I almost got it this time. Down and up the neck then down the neck finale. It's a fun song to play on the 'ole five-string. This is the first time I've played it up the neck. Much fun! Robert

David Martin inspired me to sing this song. I learned and sang this song when I was five years old. David does a great job on this tune and he made me want to sing it again. Robert
