A copy of Cathy Moore's idea to switch to the minor key just to mix things up. I always thought the "sawyer" in the title identified a worker in a sawmill, That's why I called it ...Sawyer...Miner (two occupations). But in the TOTW of 4/13/12 I learned it was what riverboatmen called a log snag in the river that bobbed up and down like a saw blade. Too late to change the title.

A clawhammer version of Jim Reed's original. See jimh269b's music page for the vastly superior, 3-finger original. I just liked this tune so much when Jim posted it that I was determined to try it clawhammer style. On the Romero with Nylguts tuned to Jim's recording, which is roughly fCFBbC.

I learned this tune when Mark Johnson posted it in the Tune of the Week for 4-1-2011. Since then, it's pretty much always the first tune I play whenever I tune into G (or in this case A) modal. I've been meaning to thank Mark for introducing me to this for three-and-a-half years. So... "Thanks Mark!"
